Latex Catsuit Guide & FAQ

The Vex Guide to Latex Catsuits & Bodysuits

We have been cutting and hand-finishing latex catsuits in California for 26 years. A catsuit is the most demanding garment we make — there is nowhere to hide a poor seam or a guessed measurement — which is exactly why it is the truest test of how a piece is built. Here is how ours are made, how to choose the right one, and how to make it last for decades.

What makes a Vex latex catsuit different

Every catsuit is cut by hand from flat sheet latex and assembled seam by seam — not heat-pressed from a mold or mass-bonded. We use 0.45mm latex sourced from England, a weight chosen deliberately: thin enough to move and shine like a second skin, heavy enough to hold a sculpted line and survive years of wear. Seams are hand-cemented and rolled so they sit flat against the body rather than gaping or peeling, which is the first thing to fail on cheaper latex.

Custom & made-to-measure latex catsuits

This is where a Vex catsuit pulls ahead of anything you'll find on a marketplace. A custom latex catsuit is built to your exact measurements and in any color, finish, or detail you choose — so it fits like it was molded to you, because it was. If your measurements fall between sizes, or you want a specific neckline, zipper placement, or two-tone design, order made-to-measure. A made-to-measure catsuit is the difference between a suit you tolerate and one you reach for every time.

How to choose your size

Latex does not stretch and recover the way spandex does, so fit is everything — a catsuit should feel like firm compression, not a squeeze you fight all night. Take four measurements before ordering: bust, waist, hips, and inseam, plus your height, which governs torso and leg length. If you fall between sizes, or your measurements span two sizes (common, and completely normal), this is the moment to order made-to-measure rather than forcing a stock size. Pieces marked Ready to Ship are in stock in standard sizing; most others are handcrafted to order after you purchase.

Catsuit or bodysuit — which one

A catsuit is full-length, head to ankle, built for maximum impact on stage or as a complete statement. A bodysuit stops at the hip or thigh and is the more versatile buy: style it under a skirt, tucked into trousers, or on its own. If this is your first latex piece, a bodysuit is the easier entry point; if you want the dramatic, sculpted silhouette latex is known for, the full catsuit delivers it.

Getting into it, and caring for it

Latex grips dry skin, so dress with a silicone-based dressing aid or a dusting of cornstarch, and ease the suit on slowly from the feet up — never yank a seam. To finish, buff the outside with a latex shiner or a little silicone for the signature high gloss. Store flat or loosely rolled, away from direct light, heat, and metal (copper and brass stain latex permanently). Treated this way, a Vex catsuit holds its shape and shine for 20+ years. Full instructions live in our latex care collection.

How is a latex catsuit supposed to fit?

Snug and compressive everywhere, with no bagging at the knees, elbows, or crotch and no painful pulling at the shoulders. Because latex doesn't recover like stretch fabric, the right size feels like a firm second skin from the first wear.

Can I order a custom or made-to-measure latex catsuit?

Yes — this is our specialty. A custom latex catsuit is built to your exact measurements in any color and finish, so it fits like it was molded to you. If you fall between sizes or want specific details, made-to-measure is the right choice. Start at our custom page.

How do I get into a latex catsuit?

Use a silicone dressing aid or cornstarch on your skin, then ease it on slowly from the feet upward, smoothing as you go. Never pull hard on a single seam. Buff the outside with silicone or a latex shiner once it's on.

How long does a latex catsuit last?

With proper storage and care, 20 years or more. Latex's enemies are light, heat, oils, and metals — keep it away from those, shine it with silicone, and it holds up for decades.

What's the difference between Ready to Ship and made to order?

Ready to Ship pieces are in stock in standard sizing and ship quickly. Made-to-order pieces are handcrafted in our California studio after you purchase, which is what allows custom sizing and color.
