Grimes joined Anyma as a collaborator for ‘The End of Genesys,’ his groundbreaking residency at Sphere Las Vegas — the first of its kind at the venue. For the moment, Vex designed and built a custom look for her, made entirely from scratch in our studio.
Like every Vex custom, it started as a pattern. Before a single piece of the final material was cut, the look was developed and fitted in muslin — a toile built on the form, refined panel by panel until the cut was exactly right.
Every custom begins the same way: on the form, in muslin, one panel at a time. The toile is where the whole piece is figured out.
A custom build for a stage like Sphere has no margin for error. The look was draped and patterned in muslin first, with cut-out paneling mapped across the body and marked by hand. Each line was adjusted on the form before it was ever translated into the final material.

The toile maps the entire design — the neckline, the cut-out panels, the seams that shape the piece to the body. Front and back are built and balanced together so the finished look reads clean from every angle on camera.
Every seam and cut-out was refined on the form before the final build — the difference between a piece that merely fits and one that moves perfectly under stage light.
