Diva Plavalaguna is one of science fiction's most unforgettable looks — the blue-skinned alien opera singer from Luc Besson's The Fifth Element (1997), whose costume was originally designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier. We recreated her from head to toe in latex: the spiraled headpiece, the sculpted bodice, the flowing blue gown, and the tentacle-like adornments that make the character instantly recognizable.

The signature headpiece was sculpted and built in black latex, curl by spiraled curl — the piece that reads “Diva” before anything else does.
A matching latex wrist cuff carries the same spiral emblem.
The bodice was built in black latex and hand-painted, then the spiral-embossed collar and the blue gown were brought together on the form. Those tentacle-like blue tubes at the shoulders are the detail that turns the silhouette alien.
