Sara first discovered latex while in college when a peer suggested applying for an internship at Vex. With a background in costume design, she was eager to explore a new material and technique — and never looked back. Latex offers unique challenges and possibilities that set it apart from traditional materials, and I've enjoyed working with it ever since.
— Sara Crafting Magic in Latex For Sara, the best part of working with latex is bringing concepts to life. Latex is a great medium for creative, three-dimensional design. One of her most memorable projects was crafting Lady Gaga's tentacle dresses, which quickly became fan favorites. She also recalls the thrill of working on inflatable garments for Gaga's Artpop tour — a project that pushed the boundaries of design and problem-solving. Sara draws inspiration from many sources, from her love of nature to her passion for horror films. She enjoys drawing and painting outside of work, always inspired by the natural world. Life at Vex Having worked with Laura for over a decade, Sara describes her as a truly great boss and a wonderful person. She's learned an incredible amount about creativity, technique, and craft over the years. The atmosphere here is a great mix of innovation and passion, with a good balance of fun along the way.

Vex Clothing began with a single spark of inspiration in 1996 when Laura, then a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, purchased her first latex dress. Her passion for craftsmanship led her to explore every material and method she could, from leatherworking classes to an internship with the renowned Baroness in NYC. Around the same time, Thierry Mugler's iconic runway show featuring latex deeply inspired her to reimagine the material — not just as fetishwear, but as high fashion. Her love of groundbreaking design and dramatic storytelling has always been fueled by the works of Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, and Thierry Mugler. I wanted to create latex pieces that focused on the fashion aspect of the material.

The inside of the garments are just as beautiful as the outside. We pour love into every piece, from the initial design to the packaging.

An avid snowboarder for 30 years, Laura also enjoys mountain biking with her family, camping, and immersing herself in nature. Her love of punk music, dark wave, and EDM fuels her creativity. Astrology plays a big role in her life, both personally and creatively — she often draws inspiration from the stars and moon phases, infusing a sense of cosmic magic into her designs. I have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old and stupid shit makes me laugh.
