Blue latex. Gold chain fringe. Hand-cut scroll appliqué. A cowboy outfit built entirely from scratch in our California studio — worn on one of the biggest tours in history.
Beyoncé wore a custom Vex latex cowboy outfit during the Cowboy Carter Tour — featured in the interstitial video content that played between live sets. The piece is a full blue latex cowboy ensemble: structured bodice, gold chain fringe, hand-cut scroll appliqué, gold stud detailing, red shoulder accents, and a matching blue latex cowboy hat with gold piping.
The entire outfit was designed and handmade in the Vex California studio over a two-week build in late February and early March 2025. Every element — from the laser-cut scroll work to the individually placed gold studs — was built by the same small team that has been crafting latex for 26 years.
When the brief is Beyoncé and the material is latex, there is no margin for anything less than perfect. Every stud, every scroll, every chain — placed by hand.
This was not a styled pull from an existing collection. This was a ground-up custom build — pattern drafted, latex cut, appliqué designed, fringe engineered, hat constructed — all in-house. The blue latex is 0.45mm English latex imported from our longtime supplier. The gold chain fringe is real metal, weighted to move with the body on camera. The scroll appliqué was hand-cut and bonded to the bodice panel by panel.
The build was documented across ten days of studio work. What the camera captured in a few seconds of tour footage took hundreds of hours of handwork to create.
The cowboy outfit is built from multiple handmade components, each requiring its own pattern work and construction process. The bodice features sculpted seaming with gold piping trim running along every edge. Scroll-shaped appliqué pieces were hand-cut from a contrasting latex and bonded to the surface, then finished with individual gold studs pressed into place one at a time.
The gold chain fringe hangs from the yoke and sleeves — real chain, cut to graduated lengths so it catches light and moves naturally on camera. The matching cowboy hat was built on a custom form from the same blue latex, finished with gold piping trim along the brim and crown.
