When a Los Angeles fragrance house needed something as layered and provocative as their scents, they came to Vex. The result: a bespoke collection of latex lace pieces — headpieces, a structured bra, and a full gown — handmade for their campaign and product launch.
Heretic Parfum is a Los Angeles-based fragrance house known for natural, botanical perfumes that push convention. Their brand language is sensory, intentional, and unapologetically different — which made them a natural fit for a Vex collaboration. When they approached us to create custom pieces for a campaign shoot and product launch, the creative direction was immediate: something white, something intricate, something that felt like it existed between couture and sculpture.
We answered with our signature latex lace.
Latex lace is not lace. It is hand-cut, hand-assembled latex engineered to replicate the intricacy of lace while retaining the sculptural weight and sheen that only latex delivers.
This is one of the most technically demanding constructions in our studio. Every pattern is cut from 0.45mm English latex sheet, then painstakingly assembled by hand — each curve, each negative space, each connecting strand glued with the same precision we bring to any Vex garment. The result looks delicate but is structurally sound, camera-ready, and built to hold its shape under studio lights and on a moving body.
Vex has been refining this technique for years. It remains one of the most requested — and most labor-intensive — custom options we offer.
The Heretic collaboration required a full collection of coordinating latex lace pieces, each designed to work independently or together on camera. Here is how the build came together.
We started where every Vex custom project starts: with a design conversation. Heretic's team had a clear visual direction — white, ethereal, structured — and we translated that into a collection concept: a full-length latex lace gown as the hero piece, supported by a structured latex lace bra and a series of headpieces that could be styled in multiple configurations.
The sketch established the silhouette: an elegant floor-length gown with the intricate negative-space patterning that defines Vex latex lace. Every panel was mapped before a single cut was made.
Latex lace is built one strand at a time. Each piece of the pattern is hand-cut from flat latex sheet on the cutting mat, then assembled and glued into the lace structure. There is no machine that does this. No shortcut that preserves the quality. It is slow, focused studio work — and on a project this intricate, every hour counts.
The headpieces required especially precise work: each one had to hold its shape on a head while maintaining the airy, open lace structure. The bra needed to be both sculptural and wearable. The gown demanded all of the above at full-body scale.
The final delivery to Heretic included multiple coordinating pieces — each one handmade, each one built to hold up under campaign-level scrutiny. The latex lace headpieces were designed to be styled in various positions, giving the creative team maximum versatility on set. The structured bra stood alone as a bold editorial piece. And the gown anchored the entire collection.
Heretic is not the first brand to commission custom Vex pieces, and the reasons are consistent. When a campaign demands something that cannot be sourced from a showroom — something built to a specific creative vision, camera-tested, and delivered on deadline — Vex is where the call goes.
