Hand-painted latex masks. All-white suits. A vintage Rolls-Royce. Inside the custom Vex pieces that became the visual identity of "I Don't Wanna Talk About It."
When comedian and actor DeRay Davis decided to step into the rap spotlight alongside legendary Chicago producer The Legendary Traxster, the visuals had to hit as hard as the music. The styling direction was unambiguous: anonymous, cinematic, impossible to ignore. The answer was custom Vex latex masks.
Stylist Christian Allen Image brought the concept to Vex — two full-face latex masks, each hand-painted with a distinct black-and-white pattern, designed to erase identity and amplify presence. The result is one of the most visually striking hip-hop videos to drop in 2026.
Latex does not follow the rules of conventional fashion. That is exactly why it works when the creative direction demands something no one has seen before.
The masks were built in the Vex California studio — the same team that has been handcrafting latex for 26 years. Each mask was sculpted, molded, and then hand-painted with original ink patterns: one in a Rorschach-style bilateral design, the other in a radial splash motif. No two are identical. No two could be.
Latex catches light differently than any other material. It reflects, it moves, it holds shape while conforming precisely to the face. On camera, that combination creates something that reads as both sculptural and alive — a quality that fabric masks or prosthetics simply cannot replicate.
For this video, the masks needed to serve a specific narrative purpose: strip away celebrity recognition and let the music, the styling, and the atmosphere carry the frame. Paired with crisp white tailoring, white sneakers, and a dark industrial warehouse setting, the contrast is immediate and total. The masks are the loudest element in every shot — which is exactly the point.
Every piece is designed to read under production lighting. Latex catches and sculpts light in ways no other material can.
Hand-painted, hand-molded, never repeated. Your video gets a look that exists nowhere else.
Vex has been crafting latex in California since 2000. The team understands what holds up on set and what does not.
