Teal latex. White apron. Red waist sash. A full waitress costume built from scratch in our California studio — worn in the official music video for Patricia Zavala's "Hot & Cold."
Patricia Zavala wore a custom Vex latex waitress costume in the official music video for "Hot & Cold" — a 2025 release that has amassed over 845,000 views on YouTube. The piece is a complete waitress ensemble: a structured teal latex dress, a white latex apron with gold piping trim, a red waist sash, and a hand-built matching white latex waitress cap.
The entire costume was designed and constructed in the Vex California studio over a multi-week build beginning in March 2025. Every component — the teal dress, the apron, the cap — was patterned, cut, and assembled by hand by the same small team that has been making latex for 26 years.
A waitress costume in latex is not a costume. It is a study in how a familiar silhouette becomes something completely different in the right material.
This was a ground-up custom build — not a restyled piece from an existing collection. The teal dress required its own pattern work: structured bodice, fitted skirt, every seam engineered in 0.45mm English latex sourced from our longtime supplier. The white apron was built separately and bonded with gold piping trim running along every edge. The red waist sash anchors the two pieces visually, creating the contrast that reads clearly on camera.
The cap was made last — shaped over a custom hat form from the same white latex as the apron, finished to sit correctly and hold its structure under studio lighting. Nothing in this costume came from a rack. Everything was built for the video.
The teal latex dress is structured with a fitted bodice and defined waist — the kind of silhouette that reads as professional on camera while making clear this is not a standard uniform. The white latex apron sits over the dress with gold piping running along the bib edges and apron hem. The contrast between the teal base and the white apron is deliberately clean — sharp lines, no decorative ambiguity.
The red waist sash ties the costume together both literally and visually, breaking the teal-to-white transition with a single strong accent color. Every piece is 0.45mm English latex — the same thickness and source Vex has used for 26 years — chosen for how it photographs under professional lighting.
The waitress cap was built entirely from scratch on a custom hat form — no repurposed base, no modified blank. White latex was shaped, trimmed, and finished to match the apron exactly. It is the same 0.45mm English latex as the rest of the costume, sized to sit correctly on camera without adjustment between takes.
